New LUCAS CPR Devices Placed in Service
By Assistant Chief Roblee
Wednesday December 24, 2025
Yesterday, we placed our new Stryker LUCAS 3 mechanical chest compression devices into service. These devices are especially designed to reduce the fatigue on first responders working a cardiac arrest by delivering consistent and effective mechanical chest compressions.
Stryker delivered hands-on training for our members Monday night. Members practiced deploying the devices onto patients, which needs to be done quickly and with minimal interruptions to compressions. Getting the LUCAS 3 deployed quickly frees up first responders to work on other aspects of resuscitation efforts, such as airway management and ventilation.
The most incredible part is that the majority of the purchase cost was covered by donations from our fund drive! Thanks to the support from our community, our two new LUCAS devices were mostly funded outside of our normal operating budget. This allows us to add these devices to our arsenal without compromising other parts of our operating budget.
We are so very appreciative of the community's support to our operations. It motivates us to to provide the best services possible. Stay safe and Merry Christmas to all!
