About Us

The Memorial Volunteer Fire Company of Chaffee-Sardinia, NY Inc. was founded in 1948 by concerned town of Sardinia residents.  Today, the fire company provides fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services to the town of Sardinia and to surrounding communities through mutual aid.

The Memorial Volunteer Fire Company is the primary fire, rescue and emergency medical services agency for the Town of Sardinia Fire Protection District No. 1.  The town of Sardinia spans 52 square miles of residential, agricultural and wooded areas.  To cover such a large area, the fire company operates three stations throughout the town.  Housed in the stations are a variety of apparatus equipped to respond to fires, motor vehicle collisions, rescues, hazardous conditions and emergency medical services requests.

The most incredible part of this organization is it's members, who are 100% volunteer.  Every single responder, officer, administrator and support person donates their time to this organization, and therefore to their community.  These dedicated men and women volunteer thousands of hours every year responding to alarms, training, maintaining equipment, fundraising and administering the company.  Not only do these volunteers provide a critical service; they are also a symbol of the heart of this community.

Our Mission

The mission of the Memorial Volunteer Fire Company of Chaffee-Sardinia, N.Y., Inc. is to minimize mortality, morbidity and the loss of property resulting from fires, medical emergencies and other disasters.

We will accomplish our mission through prevention, education, fire suppression, medical services, and other related emergency and non-emergency activities. We will actively participate in our community, serve as role models, and strive to effectively and efficiently utilize all of the necessary resources at our command to provide a product deemed excellent by our citizens.

The members of the Memorial Volunteer Fire Company of Chaffee-Sardinia, N.Y. Inc. are thereby guided by the following principles:

How We Operate

The Memorial Volunteer Fire Company of Chaffee-Sardinia, NY Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization.  All funding received by the fire company is used to support our mission.

The fire company receives funding from the town of Sardinia through its contract for services to the Town of Sardinia Fire Protection District No. 1.  This provides a large portion of the funding required to operate the organization.  The remaining funds are raised through fundraising events, donations and grant opportunities.

The fire company and its members are extremely thankful for your donations and support at our fundraisers.  Your contributions allow us to obtain high quality equipment and training, which we then offer to you in your time of need.
